DOVERCOURT Bowls Club's Val Green and Christine Griggs have received their Essex County Badges.

The Dovercourt duo were handed their county badges at Chelmsford Bowling Club and richly deserve the recognition that the honour gives.

Meanwhile, in the Tendring Hundred League, Dovercourt ladies' A team played at home against Thorpe A.

RESULTS: Overall win 35-34 - Rink 1: C Griggs, S Hambling, P Bloom lost 17-21; Rink 6: C Sutton, J. Jupp, V Green won 18-13.

The A team also played at home against Clacton A.

RESULTS: Overall win 38-33 - Rink 3: C Sutton, J Jupp, V Green won 19-18; Rink 4: C Griggs, S Hambling, P Bloom won 19-15.

The B team played away at Parkeston with very mixed result.

RESULTS: Overall loss 33-29 - Rink 2: C Marshall, D Jacobs, C Harrington lost 22-8; Rink 3: H Bull, A Pottinger, B Vernaven won by 21-11.

Dovercourt's men played Wivenhoe A in the Premier League and suffered a 2-6 loss.

Dovercourt were beaten on two rinks and won one, that rink was skipped by Ray Buckland assisted by Dick Bloom, Graham Mond and Andy Todd.

Dovercourt entertained Wivenhoe B in the Stanford League and fared better, winning 5-3.

They won on two rinks with the match score equal at 56 points each.

Dovercourt's top rink was skipped by Keith Forsyth with John Jupp, Bill Stack and Chris Barker.
