THE top two couldn't be split at the second Harwich Angling Club Wednesday evening match and the result was a rare tie.

Seven anglers fished at the Bradfield water and the closest of results saw last years winner, Rosie Mortimer, fishing pole and drawing for first spot with Duncan Wrigley, who was using waggler tactics.

Both anglers netted 8lb 14oz, while Con Kleity came third.

All anglers caught well and finished at dusk for the weigh in.

It was an overcast evening with a cold northerly wind as Harwich Angling Club held their third match and the majority of those fishing struggled to get fish to the net.

Laurie Snell did well in the dam corner peg to land 1lb 5oz to get third, while Ged Spurgin, fishing on the south bank, managed to coax out 3lb of roach, skimmers and rudd to take second place.

To most anglers' dismay, though, in clear view on the dam wall double swim, Rob Houlding was keeping a steady flow of sizeable fish going into his net.

With his consistent skill, Houlding built up an impressive 11lb 5oz of largely good quality roach to easily win the match.
