HARWICH and Dovercourt Cricket Club suffered a 51-run defeat in their Marshall Hatchick Two Counties Championship division five contest at Nacton.

Batting first, the hosts finished on 189 for five.

Jake Neale took two wickets and there was one apiece for Dinesh and Tom Luxford.

In reply, Luxford got the innings off to a steady start with a knock of 24 and he was backed up by Paul Cook (25) and Adam Eaton (21).

However, Harwich were all out for 138.

Tomorrow they entertain Braintree twos.

There was better news for Harwich’s second team, who won by five wickets at home to East Bergholt twos.

Aaron Rudkin took four wickets and Richie Bushell took centre stage with the bat, scoring an unbeaten 104.
