A COFFEE and cake fundraiser will be held in Wrabness this Saturday - the day before a Bradfield woman and her dog take on a marathon.
Deb Smith will be running the Virtual London Marathon on Sunday with her dog Rusty, who is a Spanish Griffon dog estimated to be six-years-old.
The Griffon breed - scent hounds used as tools for hunting in Spain and France - are sadly discarded when they are seen as no longer useful for hunting.
She will be taking on the challenge in aid of Spanish Griffon Rescue. She has so far raised more than £600 but is hoping to generate £1,000.
Rusty was found in a Spanish village and was very timid and afraid of orange, fluorescent jackets as they are the same colour as his hunters.
During the run, therefore, Deb will wear a yellow high-vis, which Rusty is less nervous of.
The remote marathon will also see Deb wear technology to track and officially log her 26.2-mile journey.
Deb, who says the challenge is "getting very real now", previously raised £1,700 for Spanish Griffon Rescue back in October 2022.
