RESIDENTS and trades workers came together to help the emergency services clear an Essex road.

Essex Police officers were called to Heath Road, in Bradfield, before 2pm on April 15 after a large oak tree had fallen across the road due to the stormy weather.

The road was blocked for all vehicles by the tree, which also hit the bus stop on the opposite side of the road.

Officers from the force have now praised those who helped them clear the debris.
Harwich and Manningtree Standard:

PC Thomas Raes said: “I want to thank the public who came to help clear the road making it safe for everyone in such a short period of time.

“The traffic was building up, but there was a real sense of community spirit with offers of help from everyone in the vicinity.

Harwich and Manningtree Standard:

“They pulled together with officers and got the job done in no time at all, despite some challenging weather.

“The road was reopened quite quickly, thanks to their determination to help.”

Harwich and Manningtree Standard:

The large oak tree on Heath Road was safely removed and the road was reopened to traffic at about  5.30pm.
