A LIVE Q&A with the director and Harwich film editor of new British surveillance documentary is coming to Harwich this week.
The screening of ‘Phantom Parrot’ a feature-length documentary film will take place at 7.30pm this Sunday at the Electric Palace Theatre.
This will be followed by a live question and answer session with the film’s director Kate Stonehill and film editor Vera Simmonds, who went to school in Harwich.
The event will be hosted by local author Jen Offord.
Phantom Parrot is about the courage of one man, a human rights activist, to speak out about “a top-secret British surveillance programme" and also explores technology, rights, and structural racism.
A spokesperson for the Electric Palace Theatre said: “We are always delighted to support independent filmmakers, particularly those as in Vera’s case with local connections”.
“Phantom Parrot has received positive reviews, and we are grateful to Kate and Vera for providing an opportunity for our audiences to explore some of the themes and processes of this film and filming further through this live Q&A”.
Phantom Parrot is screening in UK cinemas from March 15 and will also screen in New York and The Hauge this month.
