DOVERCOURT Bay will once again proudly fly a prestigious Blue Flag, proclaiming it as one of the best beaches in the country .
This year, 24 beaches across the East of England will be flying the flag – the inter national standard for the best beaches in the world.
It is the 16th year running that Dovercourt Bay has been handed the award.
Garry Calver, the ward’s town and district councillor, is delighted the run has continued.
“Dovercourt Bay has been the proud recipient of a European Blue Flag since 2001,” he said.
“It has made a tremendous difference to our seaside tourism.
“The award is important to residents and outsiders alike.
“It is great news that we have secured it for yet another year.”
In addition, the bay has clinched the Seaside Award, Keep Britain Tidy's own commendation.
The award is presented to beaches that meet the very highest standards for cleanliness and visitor facilities.
Dovercourt Bay is one of only five beaches in the East of England region to hold both awards.
