A MOTORCYCLIST has suffered a leg injury after smashing into a ford fiesta on the A120.

Police and ambulance services were called to the scene near the Horsley Cross roundabout at around 7.50am.

A motorbike and a car had crashed, sending the driver of the bike flying into the trees and bushes on the side of the road.

Essex fire were contacted at 8.12am and sent two engines to the scene, where officers used specialist equipment to free the motorcyclist.

The air ambulance was called in and the road closed to allow space, however it was not needed.

The motorcyclist suffered a serious leg injury and was taken by ambulance to Colchester General Hospital for treatment.

The driver of the car suffered minor injuries which were treated at the scene, and the road was re-opened at around 9.30am.
